Sorry got it wrong again

Just tried to send a very funny link to you all but technically challenged once again and failed miserably. Bryan tried to advise me but it is a bit like the blind leading the blind really. Keep watching this space because I may get it right one day.

Time for a laugh

Click on the link.

We can’t upload actual videos Sue - we can only post links to them which then have to be clicked on.

Thanks. A lovely start to the day.
Much love and many chuckles.

Dad.

PS. Lord Fly asked me to cover for him if you had problems.  He is very busy filling in claim forms.

Love You Gran - A few personal memories of 11th February 2008

I can hardly believe it is a whole year since I drove from the Ennerdale Hotel at Cleator to Barrow Hospital to see Gran. Bryan and I had been at his Great Niece’s christening the day before and I had prayed for Gran to be kept safe until I was able to visit her on Monday on our way home for just one last visit and hug.

Imagine how devastated I felt when my phone rang just as we arrived in the Hospital car park to hear mum telling me that Gran had died in the early hours of that morning. Dad had just phoned to tell her. As you may or may not know mum is not an early bird (unless she has to be up to catch an early bus to go off on her travels abroad) so it was almost lunchtime.

I still had a desperate need to see Gran to tell her how much she was loved so we went to the ward and arranged to see Gran in the chapel of rest at half past one. We sat outside  in the Hospital grounds in the sunshine whilst I called Amanda who had flown out to Toronto with Andy and friends for a few days break. All we really wanted was to be together and give each other a hug. Mum was in Bridlington keeping an eye on Bekki and Anthony. I spoke to them too and Bekki was caring for mum in the traditional Tally way-making cups of tea and giving hugs.

When I saw Gran I felt so bereft, and cheated out of my last chat and smile from my wonderful Gran. She was peaceful but so still. I kept expecting her to open her eyes and smile at us but that was not to be.The hugs and kisses were easy even though they were one sided. I was able to tell Gran all the things I had to say, passed on love hugs and kisses from all of us -mum, Paul, Mark, John, Amanda, our spouses and children. It took me a good hour to feel ready to leave her and begin our journey home. I wanted to bring her away with me, keep her with me. forever.  We called in to see Auntie Clarice and shared stories and real warm hugs  in the cottage with Gran’s baby sister, not forgetting the cups of tea.

Today whilst at work I have had flashbacks to that day. I relived my time saying goodbye to Gran and recognised that whilst we are still alive Gran is too. She has left us with so many happy memories and the greatest gift to be able to love others, to share hugs and smiles and enjoy life whilst we can to the full. We all carry a little piece of her inside us and always will because she was with us for such a lovely long time.  Thankyou for reading my personal memories of the day Gran died.

Love you Gran.

Please keep the blog going. It started to keep us all in touch with how Gran was but should continue to keep the family continuity going. Those of us who do not post regularly still love to keep updated with the goings on in the family, no matter how far spread we are. We do have busy lives but we also have quieter times when it is so nice to reminice and reading some of the stories on the blog is good for that.

Don’t forget, I am still working on the Cuban photos so you need to keep checking to see if I ever manage to do it.

Up loading Photos or perhaps that should read NOT uploading photos!!

Just been trying to upload some Cuban photos but I seem to fail at the point where Lord Fly tells me to click on upload as when I do that my photos do not appear anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

No time now so I will try again another time when Ihave received further expert advice from all those computer whizzes out there.

 Tata for now

Just back from Cuba!!!

Hii all , just a quickie. Bryan and I arrived back from our trip to Cuba this afternoon and I just popped on to see what has been happening in the family.

Big Boob dad you sent hugs to Jonathon in Brid when he lives in Bolton. Poor Anthony was left hugless. Please get those brain cells rejuvenated or perhaps it is those frosty mornings in Millom. Brrrrr

We have come home to a wet, wet day from Manchester to Fangfoss, rain all the way. Not slept since getting up in sunny Varedero on Friday morning at 8am and in Cuban time it is now Saturday at 12 lunch time. Hoping to get some sleep soon. Will post some photos when I get chance to download them.

Love to all

Sue and Bryan.

It’s another Eureka moment

Well the footie just goes on and on and on tonight!! and as I have a few minutes before the second part of Silent Witness comes on I thought I had better have a go at this colour lark as even fly-on-the-wall seems to think it’s easy!! So what is it I have to do??? ermmmmmmm

Yahoo I got it but it has taken me ten minutes to get this right. Now I don’t have time for my shower and i will have to go to bed all smelly. Poor Bryan.

Hopefully I will find it quicker as I practice more.

Oh, by the way fly-on-the-wall -Thanks for the easy shortened version of the original instructions by Uncle Andrew. Yours made sense to little-old-techno-challenged-me.

Night Night folks. xxxxxxx

I am back again. July is a busy month for this branch of the family! Today is John and Janice’s silver wedding anniversary so I want to send them congratulations on 25 years of marriage from all the family. Something to be very proud of.

No party though. I am very disappointed! Any excuse for a family get-together! (Hope the card arrived on time)

Lots of love

Sue

hello everyone from fangfoss

Sorry it has been so long since I have sent any messages to the big wide world of Tallys but I have been struggling to remember my password. Yes I know that is a sign of old age and of course I am a year older today. No, that’s not why I am here, to remind you all that you have forgotten to wish Gran’s first grandchild Happy Birthday (26 again!!!) but I was surprised that no-one posted a message on Gran’s birthday on Sunday.

It was a strange day for me as I really really missed her even though I didn’t always speak to her or spend time with her on her birthday. It was amazing how many lovely cards I saw in the shops too with Gran on them , when usually I struggle to find a nice one for my Gran. I wasn’t sure it would have been appropriate to buy a card and send it to Mrs P. Talbot, c/o St George’s Cemetery so I resisted the temptation to do it. Instead I wished her Happy Birthday when I was outside in the garden enjoying  the glorious sunshine, the first we have seen for many days and unbelievably we had no rain!! It being St Swithin’s day today and as we have had heavy showers inbetween the beautiful sunshine I guess we will have more rain for the next 40 days and 40 nights. Hopefully with sunnny breaks in between. So wear flip-flops and carry a brolly!

Last time I saw Gran at St. George’s she told me the story of the day I was born and how she had to swing me in a nappy to get me to breathe as I had been born with the cord wrapped around my neck and was blue. We used to joke that she might not be able to do it now but I think if we had had a nappy she would have loved to try. My Gran really helped me into the world and I am still very proud of her and all she achieved in her life. She loved her family no matter what they did. When I was doing my counselling training quite a few years ago now I remember someone saying ‘you can love the sinner but not the sin’ and that is what I learnt from Gran’s example. I know there are those who will say that is Christian teaching but aside from that I want to be like my Gran and like people, accepting that we are all different and it is that difference that makes us human. We may not agree with what others do or say but why get angry and ‘go off on one’ (as the youngsters say).

Gran used to send me little message cards on my birthday and I carry one with me every day. I want to share it with you.

A SMILE

A smile costs nothing but gives much.

It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.

It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

Noone is so rich or mighty that that he can get along without it, and noone is so poor but that he can be made rich by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.

It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature’s best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them on of yours, as no-one needs a smile as much as he who has no more to give.

Hope you all have a nice day and I know that you all wish me a Happy 26th Birthday really. (Wonder how many of you really remember how old I am. I am not telling so don’t ask.  Besides if you knew it would only make you  feel a little older so go with 26 I am. And no cheating by looking at the family geneology site.) You should never ask a lady how old she is and today I feel like a lady!! Probably won’t tomorrow so I will enjoy the moment while I can, as we all should.

Take care of yourselves. I will be back if I can remember that dratted password again.

Love Sue

PS Hi Andrew it is good to see that you are getting out from behind that computer occasionally!!

Happy Birthday Anthony

Hiya Anthony, Just to say Happy 11th Birthday today and  hope you have a great time with your friends at  ‘Fun For All’. Hope your cake is ‘chocolatey’ enough and please save me a piece with a strawberry on it!!!

Uncle Bryan is really sorry he couldn’t come to your party but he didn’t want to be the best on the ropes. Thought he couldn’t show you how it is done today as it is your birthday!!!!

Love you lots

Auntie Sue and Uncle Bryan xxxxxxxxxxx

PS Look out I have 11 kisses for you when I see you. Mmmmmm. (Hope your girlfriend won’t be jealous)

At last here is Bekkie and Egg

scan0003.jpgSo hello everyone, I know that you have been waiting a long time for this but here is a lovely piccie of gorgeous Bekkie and her faithful friend Egg. This was taken at a Pony Club event at Wold Newton on Monday 7th May ( just before Egg decided he wanted to eat grass and not jump over some coloured bits of plastic called jumps!! Sorry Bekkie I shouldn’t have told everyone that should I?) They did go on to win a rosette or two though. Doesn’t Egg look beautiful with his new sheepskin nose band? and how about that proud mum aint she great!

Love you lots Bekkie. Please forgive me.
