Lord Fly reports:
22/02/2009 by Lord Fly of Bogland.
I am somewhat alarmed.
It appears that a member of the House of Lords invited a Dutch politician, to a private meeting in the Palace of Westminster. She had intended to invite her colleagues in the Lords to a private viewing of his ‘documentary’ Fitna, followed by discussion and debate in true parliamentary fashion. She assumed that this still is, after all, a liberal democracy, and that their lordships still enjoyed the rights of freedom of expression and freedom of association, not to mention certain parliamentary privileges for the protection of their function in the legislature.
But no sooner had the unsuspecting baroness sent out her invitations when the Muslim peer Lord Ahmed raised hell. It is reported that he ‘threatened to mobilise 10,000 Muslims to prevent the Dutch politician from entering the House and threatened to take the colleague who was organising the (private) event to court’.
And so the Dutch politician was banned from entering the country and the private screening of Fitna in the House of Lords was cancelled.

Greetings from Lord Fly
01/02/2009 by Lord Fly of Bogland.
Hello commoner friends,
Sorry to have been out of touch for so long but you may have read in the press that we Peers are said to have claimed an average of £60,000 each in expenses last year and I have been carrying out a personal investigation as I received nothing like that. However I can now say that every penny of those expenses were justified. People think that they are “money for old rope” as they say, but I can now assure you that we earn that money by all the form filling we have to do to claim it. Form after form after form - on and on. So, please, no more sarcastic comments and criticisms from you misunderstanding people out there. Filling in forms is not an easy way to earn money!!
Having got that off my chest, I do hope everyone is well. I had the pleasure of replying to Sue as you may have noticed, and I see that Ted has been rabbiting on as usual. Seventy-five years old - don’t you believe it. He only looks about seventy-four. And sometimes he behaves like a seventy-three-year-old. But continue to humour him. It was nice to see posts from the family. I feel that posts are like a touching of friends hands. However, enough of that. I now have far too much to do filling in claim forms. That takes nearly all my time these days. And we can’t even claim for the time we spend filling in forms - I think. Must look into that!
Must go - money is awasting.
Regards to all,
Lord Fly of Bogland.

Uploading Photos
13/01/2009 by Lord Fly of Bogland.
Hi Sue,
Greetings (again) from Lord Fly,
Luckily my laptop was on when your post arrived. The steps are as follows:-
First, click the “Write a post” tag as normal.
Scroll down the page until you see the line headed “File”.
At the end of this line is the “Browse” tag.Click on this and find the photo you wish to upload.
Click on the photo and then on the “Open” tag on the Pictures folder. This will cause the location of the photo to be copied onto the “File” line on your blog.
Next click on the “Upload” tag just below the “Browse” button on your post.
This uploads the photo into the space below your post.
Click “Send to Editor”.
The photo then moves up inthe Post area.
Click on “Publish” to publish your photo to the blog. The photo will appear as a small thumbnail, but a click on it on the blog will enlarge it to its original size.
If you are uploading more than one photo onto one post, instead of clicking on “Publish” click on “Save and continue editing”. This will save that photo and then make available the “File”, “Browse”, and “Upload” buttons to upload another photo(s).
From your post it seems as if you are not clicking “Open” after selecting your photo. Check that the location of your photo gets copied into the “File” line. If it is there the upload will work ok.
Nice to hear from you again,
Lord Fly of Bogland.

Half term holiday
29/11/2008 by Lord Fly of Bogland.
Greetings from Lord Fly,
I have not posted anything on the blog this week because, together with the elected polititions of this realm and my fellow peers in the House of Lords, I have been on half term holiday.
It was a nice suprise to find that we had a half term holiday.
I am told that it is to enable us all to do our Christmas shopping so that we don’t have to interrupt our soon to start, much longer Christmas holiday doing it.
Hope to be back soon,
Lord Fly of Bogland.

Uploading photos - for Peter and everyone.

Click on this one for a laugh!
Greetings from Lord Fly,
Barbara made mention of the perceived difficulty in uploading photographs to the blog.
Happily this is not so, and I will explain the method.
First, click the “Write a post” tag as normal.
Scroll down the page until you see the line “File”.
At the end of this line is the “Browse” tag.Click on this and locate your “Pictures” or equivalent Folder.
Open this folder and find the photo you wish to upload.
Click on the photo and then on the “Open” tag on the Pictures or equivalent folder. This will place the location of the photo in the “File” line on your blog.
Then click on the “Upload” tag just below the “Browse” button on your post.
The photo then appears in a new field below your post.
Leave the black dots in the “Thumbnail” and “File” sections as they are and click on “Send to Editor”.
The photo then moves up to the Post area.
Click on “Publish” to publish your photo to the blog.
The photo will appear as a small thumbnail, but a click on it on the blog will enlarge it to its original size.
Try it and see.

Colouring your typeface.
18/11/2008 by Lord Fly of Bogland.
Hello again, Barbara.
It is really easy to change your blog typeface colour and size.
When you have written your post, click the “Code” tab at the top of your post and then type the instruction <font size=”3″ color=”blue” face=”ariel”> before the first word of the first line of your post.
Then click the “Visual” tab, which is to the left of the Code tab, and you will see everything in blue just like this.
If you click the “Code” tab again and change the “blue” in the command to ”red” the text becomes red like this.
Or you can change it to green by putting ”green” there instead.
If you change the “3″ to “4″ the type gets bigger, like this.
And “5″ makes it bigger still.
I know you can do it. As I often say, “If Ted can do it, anyone can!!”
Glad to be of service,
Your friend,
Lord Fly of Bogland.
