It’s Saturday again

Greetings families,

I trust everyone is well and that Andee and family have got over their SAD and cold viruses. Winter always is hard to get on with and I like to punctuate it with highlights to look forward to - like the shortest day and then there is Christmas and then looking for the first snowdrop and so on. I was looking forward to some photographs of sunny Cuba too - ahem, ahem!

This week Grace and I had a wonderful visit to Rowley Regis to see James and Kasia snd Gabriella and new baby Jonathan. I had been promising myself a visit for ages but the thought of a hundred and seventy miles of motorway driving to get there had proved a hindrance. However we went down by train and really enjoyed the journey. James met me at his local station, Smethwick Galton Gate, and that rounded off a near perfect journey.

Of course the pleasure really started when we reached James and Kasia’s home and we were immersed in their lovely company proper. A bit of hands-on with baby Jonathan and then Gabriela (four years of age) arrived home from school with a “hello grandad” and the party was complete. It was a wonderful time together. The highlight of the visit was perhaps after I had read Gabriela a bedtime story and she said wistfully, “You go home tomorrow when I am at school”. “Yes”, I said, “but I will come again”, to which she replied “I can’t wait”. Aaaaah!

Well, the next big event - after the SHORTEST DAY - is, unbelievably, Christmas. I can’t imagine how it has got here so quickly. But then after Christmas it is downhill all the way to Summer again. Guaranteed.

I’ll no doubt do a post or two before then.  Well someone has to keep them coming. Incidentally I haven’t heard from Lord Fly since he left to do his Christmas shopping in the politicians half term holiday a couple of weeks ago. It seems quiet without him.

Right, that’s me lot! (Who said, Hooray?) I’m off to do my Christmas shopping,

Loads of love to everybody,

Ted.
