Uploading photos - for Peter and everyone.
22/11/2008 by Lord Fly of Bogland.
Click on this one for a laugh!
Greetings from Lord Fly,
Barbara made mention of the perceived difficulty in uploading photographs to the blog.
Happily this is not so, and I will explain the method.
First, click the “Write a post” tag as normal.
Scroll down the page until you see the line “File”.
At the end of this line is the “Browse” tag.Click on this and locate your “Pictures” or equivalent Folder.
Open this folder and find the photo you wish to upload.
Click on the photo and then on the “Open” tag on the Pictures or equivalent folder. This will place the location of the photo in the “File” line on your blog.
Then click on the “Upload” tag just below the “Browse” button on your post.
The photo then appears in a new field below your post.
Leave the black dots in the “Thumbnail” and “File” sections as they are and click on “Send to Editor”.
The photo then moves up to the Post area.
Click on “Publish” to publish your photo to the blog.
The photo will appear as a small thumbnail, but a click on it on the blog will enlarge it to its original size.
Try it and see.
Lord Fly of Bogland.

Saturday again!

Hi families,
Don’t the weeks fly round? Today I woke up and it was Saturday again just like it was last week - but this one seems to have got here very quickly. It feels like “Sunday, Monday ….. miss a few ….. Saturday”. And now the shortest day and Winter Holiday are creeping up at a great rate of knots.
Nice to have a post from Barbara this week. Hi kid! Lord Fly was delighted to explain the colouring and font size thingy - he has hardly stopped since saying what a nice lady you are. I think that is because you wrote something on the blog. I was speaking to another family member this week who said that they don’t blog because no-one else does and they feel (like Lord Fly and myself sometimes) that we are just blogging to ourselves. I know a lot of family members look at the posts but it would be really nice if everyone just said, “Hi, it’s me” now and again. Which reminds me of an audio recording our dad (Edward Sherratt) left years ago, and the details of which I will now thrill you - or not - with.
The local C of E vicar noticed that, every morning, a young chap named Jim popped into the church, stayed there about two minutes and then popped out again and went on his way. After a while the vicar was so curious about the daily occurrence that he waited outside the church one morning and accosted Jim as he came out.
“Hi Jim”, he said. “I notice you pop into the church every morning for a minute or so and then pop out again and go on your way. What do you pop in for?”
“I go to pray”, Jim replied.
“But you don’t take long”, said the vicar.
“Well”, said Jim, “I go in and say ‘Hello Jesus. It’s Jim’, and then I come out again”.
Satisfied, the vicar left it at that.
A while later the vicar noticed that Jim was not making his morning visit to the church. He made enquiries and discovered that Jim had been taken into hospital. He decided to pay him a visit.
At the ward he got into conversation with the sister who told him that she felt sad for Jim because the vicar was his very first visitor since coming in. The vicar felt sad too.
During their conversation the vicar mentioned the lack of visitors visiting Jim.
“Oh, but I do get visited”, said Jim.
“Really?”, said the vicar.
“Oh yes”, said Jim. “Each morning Jesus comes, pops his head around the door and says ‘Hello, Jim, It’s Jesus’”.
Nice, eh? And that really made Jim’s day.
And that accompanies my favourite saying which is “If you see someone without a smile - give them one of yours”. Ahhhhh!
Anyway, that is all it takes very often, so why not just stick your head above the parapet, take a look at us all and say, “Hi, its me!” It will work wonders like it did for Jim.
My love to everyone ,
Ted.

One Month later
22/11/2008 by Andrew.
Hello everyone
It has been about a month since my last confession. I did resolve to post regularly but I have to admit i got discouraged with the lack of activity apart from Ted’s posts and the other er…. chappy. For this reason I want to encourage us to make a better effort.
Ted has set this up so that we as a family can keep in touch easily and share what is happening in our respective families as well as having a laugh together. Before the web existed this would have been much more difficult and I was thinking that I for one should be much more grateful for this opportunity. Yep, I know we are all busy, but 10 minutes to write a post is’nt a huge chunk out of one week. All it needs is a little resolve and to be important enough to remember!!
Now Mum is not here, in a way some of the ‘glue’ that binds us together is gone and so we need to be careful that we do not drift apart as that would have broken her heart. The question is, do we as a family love each other enough to make the effort. I know Ted loves me as he always keeps in contact, even though i might forget. This says to me that he thinks about me and cares how i am.
I feel a bit of a hypocrite writing this as i am probably the worst offender, but having said that, it is true and needs saying (or writing in this case).
The beauty of the blog is that - unlike the phone - you can contact everyone in one shot so you can keep in touch with one or two quick posts every week, very time efficient!
Anyway I am going to re-resolve to post at least once a week and I hope you will too.
Congrats James, Kasia and Gabriela on your new arrival. A very handsome little chappy who resembles his old feller.
How sweet to hold a new-born baby,
And look with wonder on God’s gift.
But greater still the calm assurance.
This child can face uncertain days because He (Jesus) lives.
Lots of love
Andee & family XXXXXXX
