WHERE IS MR. EGG?

Hi Beckkie and thank you for your post.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas-time, including Mr. Egg.

We are all waiting to see Mr. Egg in person but he seems to be shy about coming onto the blog. Please have a word with him and tell him that he has loads of fans out here waiting for him. And how about a photograph of you too.

Loads of love to you and the family,

Grandad Ted.

Just a little chat

Hi Ted and Mum and all, Hope you all had a good Christmas. We were very hectic until Christmas Day afternoon, and then it suddenly went quiet. Just realised that our family had left to go back home! They made it safely, and went to spend the rest of the day with Ali’s family.

Thank you Ted for getting this up and running. We realise that you must have spent ages trying to simplify it for us lesser computer illiterate mortals, so thank you. I still had to get Peter to get me started (on the blog), but I will get there in the end.

The pictures of Mum at St George’s are lovely. We are hoping to make the trek from Barrow this week!

We would love to see some of you when the weather has improved, in the meantime we can blog on with our news.

Lots of love to you all,   Barbara and Peter. xxxxx

St. George’s update

Santa arrived at St. George’s Residential Home in the person of resident Cliff who is the longest serving resident (10 years this year).  He made his rounds ably assisted by the St. George’s staff of carers, who wore appropriate disguises, and distributed his bounty. It was, however, too much for one or two who surrendered to the priorities of their age and slept through it all.

Refreshments were served to all after Santa had completed his round and a Christmas festive spirit prevailed.  Little mum enjoyed it all and said that it made it really feel like Christmas.

The following photographs show some of the residents and especially our mum enjoying the good time.

Grateful thanks to all the staff at St. George’s for the preparation and work which went into organising and carrying out a wonderful treat for the residents.

Christmas Greetings from the matriarch

Mum sends her love and Christmas greetings to all the family and she asked me especially to send blessings to everyone.

Some  days ago I asked her if she would be sending a Christmas message but she replied that her “get up and go” had got up and gone.  However when I saw her this morning and passed on the family’s greetings to her she said that she would like to send you a personal Christmas message. It will, however, be a little after Christmas day.

Today Santa (appropriately dressed resident Cliff) visited St. George’s and distributed presents from under the tree.  The staff were all dressed as reindeer, fairies! and other oddities.  I managed to take plenty of photographs to put on the blog so you can share the day with her. (Watch this space!)

When you now boot up the blog (www.thetalbotfamilyblog.org.uk) there is at the lower right corner a menu heading “Register”.  If you are having any difficulty in using the username and password I sent to you click on this and register yourself. However see the blog about cookie settings and multiple registration on the same computer which will still apply even if you register yourself.

My love and greetings to you all,

Merry Christmas to All

caitlyn-and-mother.jpgWell here we are 06.15 Christmas Day morning, Happy Christmas everyone, Why am I up so early..?  Well the bird would not get in the oven by itself, had to use a bit of friendly persuasion, then it complained it was hot, and it complaned about being stuffed too, Oh well, such is life , Poor Bird. Have wonderful Christmas everyone , I am hehe. off to Matthews For Dinner, Oh yes I was cooking the bird to take with us.

I tried posting a pic of Mother with Caitlyn last posting, I must have not have got it right, so here goes again.

Season’s Greetings

It is now 4 minutes past midnight, so we (Peter and myself) would like you wish you all a very peaceful and wonderful Christmas, and a healthy and prosperous 2007. May God bless you all.

You see not all retired folk are in their beds early, well you wouldn’t with a 2 year old bombing around! (You’ve got to have the stamina)

We send you all our love, and hope to hear from you soon,

Peter, Barbara, Phil, Ali and William

DIFFICULTY REGISTERING?

At least two family members have experienced difficulties in getting their password accepted during registration.  We have tried various things to overcome this problem without success,

In another attempt to overcome the problem I have set the blog to “anyone can register” which gets around my having to offer a temporary user name and password.

As you register please publish a brief post saying that you are on. If you still cannot register please e-mail me at ted@talbotfamily.org.uk and I will delete your unacceptable details already on file so that you can try registering yourself.

There must be a logical reason for some members being accepted and not others.

Once registered there is no further need to log on.  The blog recognises and identifies the user’s PC and allows them instant access.  This suggests that a cookie is placed on each PC during registration to enable this to happen.

The problem could be caused by the cookie settings on the PC.  On Internet Options on the Control Panel, under the Security tab my setting is Medium-high and under Privacy the setting is Medium.  These settings work for me.

Following on from this, only one cookie per blog may be allowed on a PC causing a second person attempting to register from that PC to be rejected.

Anyway, these are only guesses.  Try again now that we have open registration. See how you get on. Check your cookie settings if necessary, and I look forward to a confirmatory blog from everyone in due course.

A very happy Christmas to everyone.

Much love to everyone, from mum and Ted.
